1. How can I download a beat?
In order to download beats you will need to have registered for a free account. Once you are logged in, you will be able to click on the Download button in the beat windows on the Home page or the Full Catalog beat page. You will be taken to a terms and conditions page and once you accept, your download will begin.

2. What can I do with a beat I downloaded for free?
Beats downloaded for free from the website may only non-commercial / non-profitable use. The purpose of free beats is to offer the possibility to record / write a song to them and have a test-drive to see if the final results are worth it investing in a license. The free downloads contain tags and these tags may not be removed under any circumstances. Acceptable free use includes demos, free internet songs, ad-free YouTube uploads and non-paying live performances. In order to start making money from your music and use beats for commercial use such as albums, mixtapes, iTunes, syncs or YouTube revenue sharing, a PREMIUM license must be bought. You may not, under any circumstances, alter the beat. Proper credit must always be given when using beats for free by writing in the song title or credits “Produced By LaDonna Comer”. If you are uploading videos to YouTube please include this information either in the video title, or in the video description. Whenever you can, please help support our free download initiative by providing a web link to http://www.LaDonnaComer.com.

3. What if I use a free download beat to make money?
All free downloads are encrypted with tags, scanned and legally protected. If you are making money or otherwise commercially benefiting from a beat/instrumental without buying a license you are incriminating yourself and making yourself liable to copyright law suits. It is highly advisable to pay the small fee for a license if you want to start making money from your music!

4. What is the quality difference between a free download beat and bought beat?
Free download beats are posted and streamed from the website in mp3 format which is a lower quality ‘lossy’ compressed file format. When you buy a beat, you will be sent files in High Quality mp3/wav format which is a high quality ‘unlossy’ raw sound file, ideal for the best quality recordings.

5. What’s is the difference between purchasing a “Lease” and purchasing “Exclusive” rights to a beat? What rights do I receive when purchasing a lease license and or exclusive rights?
**Please note leasing licenses are subject to change without notice.

Leasing Rights
“I want to rap/sing over your beat for my mixtape and I don’t care if other artists are on it”
When an artist “leases” a beat they are granted access and limited rights to a producer’s instrumental for a lower rate, for a limited time period (usually a year), and or a limited amount of sales. An artist can extend the life of their lease as well as upgrade to more premium licensing options until the beat is sold exclusively. Multiple artists are also allowed to also lease and sell the same instrumental for a given time period and or until that instrumental is sold exclusively.

Leases are generally for artists looking for high quality production to add to their mixtapes, EPs, freestyles, and other promotional content. Exclusives are generally suggested for artists working on albums and or LPs.

Exclusive Rights
“I want to rap/sing over your beat for my album/LP and I want to be the Last to buy it”
Exclusive Rights grant an artist sole ownership of the instrumental with unlimited sales. Exclusive rights guarantees that the artist will be the last individual able to purchase the beat. Every exclusive purchase is bounded by a contracts. Exclusives are generally more expensive but are a MUST have for independent and major label artists expecting to sell alot of units. Producer(s) and Artist Split Mechanical Royalties (Publishing Rights)

Exclusive Rights (Custom)
“I want to rap/sing over your beat for my album/LP and I want to be the ONLY one to buy it”
Exclusive Rights grant an artist sole ownership of the instrumental with unlimited sales. Exclusive rights custom guarantees that the artist will be the ONLY individual able to purchase the beat. This is available for custom made beat order(s) and or exclusive rights purchased from the backstock production catalog not yet released to the public. Every exclusive rights purchase is bounded by a contracts. Exclusive rights are generally more expensive but are a MUST have for independent and major label artists expecting to sell alot of units. Producer(s) and Artist Split Mechanical Royalties (Publishing Rights).

6. Will the beat(s) I receive have the Signature Custom tag?
Yes. ALL BEAT LEASES will be sent with a low quality signature tag, voice of LaDonna Comer ‘watermarks’ at the BEGINNING of the beat only (ie: LaDonnaComer.com or LaDonna Comer).

7. What are Sync rights?
Sync rights, or synchronization rights, are non-exclusive usage rights to a beat for advertisers, companies and media professionals, where the ownership of the beat remains with us. You are buying the right to use the beat for profitable, commercial use on any one single broadcast or medium. This includes soundtracks for movies, television, video games, YouTube channels and websites. You may alter the beat as you see fit, but you may not under any circumstances resell the beat. Note that several individuals may buy Sync rights to the same beat.

8. What is included with Sync rights?
A standard Sync purchase will come with a single mixed down high-quality wav file of the beat. Sync rights come with 1 additional option: Trackouts. If you purchase the Trackouts option, you will receive a download link for all the separate instrumental track lines of the beat in highest quality wav format, in a zip folder. This is ideal for professional studio mixing and mastering and the best sound quality broadcasts. In order to extract files from a zip folder, simply double-click on the zip folder to open it once downloaded, then drag everything inside out onto your desktop. If you can’t open the file you may need to download a free version of WinZip. You can upgrade Sync Rights with Trackouts at a later date.

9. What happens if I buy lease or sync rights and someone later buys exclusive rights to a beat?
Nothing. Your license will still be effective up to the limitations of your contract even if the exclusive rights to a beat are sold.

10. I’d like my beat sent to me in .WAV format, is this possible?
Only premium lease(s), exclusive rights and custom production orders include WAV files.

11. I’ve just purchased a beat and I would like the beat tracked-out (separated) into individual WAV files, is this possible?
Exclusive rights and or custom production orders are available for tracked-out studio WAV files ONLY.

12. I’d like to own full rights to an instrumental. Do you offer exclusive rights?

Once you complete your purchase you will be able to download the studio quality WAV audio files (24 bit, 44.1 kHz) of your beat(s), fully mixed as well as tracked-out (each instrument on a separate track). You will also receive an Exclusive License Agreement, granting you the rights to: Sell an unlimited number of copies of your finished track. Make an unlimited amount of profit with the beat(s). Have the complete and exclusive usage rights of the beat(s). The beat will be solely yours and will never be resold to anyone else. Exclusive rights pricing is solely based on the song format, song style, complexity and time need to complete. LaDonna Comer and Artist Split Mechanical Royalties (Publishing Rights).

13. Why are some beats marked as ‘Unavailable’ on the website?
If a beat is marked as Unavailable it either means that the Exclusive rights are sold, or that we are not currently selling the relevant license for that beat. This could, for example, be due to someone having already made a down-payment to buy a beat. If you are not able to buy a particular beat you want, you may be interested in a custom beat.

14. I would like to buy exclusive rights for a beat but I don’t have all the funds right now, can you hold a beat for me?
Yes, below is information on how to hold/Layaway a beat (only for exclusive rights)

If you want LaDonnaComer.com to stop selling a beat, then contact us about the issue and we will be willing to work out business deal.

28. What are the differences between the MP3, WAV, and Tracked Out versions?
The differences are is the the audio file(s) you receive when you purchase your beat and the terms of the license agreement.

MP3 file: The downloadable MP3 audio file (128/320 kbps) of your instrumental.

WAV file: The downloadable CD quality WAV audio file (16 bit/24 bit, 44.1 kHz) of your instrumental.

Tracked Out: The downloadable studio quality WAV audio files (24 bit, 44.1 kHz) of your instrumental, and the tracked out audio files of your instrumental.

29. What are tracked out audio files?
Tracked out audio files, also called stems, are sub mixes of an instrumental. For example, an instrumental might have the four stems: Bass, Beat, Percussion, and Instruments. The Bass stem being the bass; the Beat stem being the kick and the snare; The Percussion stem being the hi-hats, shakers, and crash cymbals; and the Instruments stem being the strings, organs, and synths. All of these stems are the full duration of the instrumental and can be layered together to recreate the stereo mix of the original instrumental.

The reason for stems is that they allow for more precise fine tuning while mixing a song. For example, one can adjust the gain on the Bass without affecting the low end of the Cellos. Or you can mold the cymbals around the vocals without affecting the punch of the snare. Although LaDonnaComer.com beats come already professionally mixed, depending on the particular artist’s vocals or the sound of the rest of their album, adjustments may want to be made in mastering. With stems these adjustments can be made much more accurately and easily.

30. What do you use to make your beats?
Our beat(s)/instrumental(s) are made using DAWs such as: FL Studio, Ableton Live, Cubase and Reason. Also several different VST/VSTi (Virtual Sounds, Synthesizers) and plugins.

Some of the beats posted on LaDonnaComer.com do use samples. Any beats used with samples will be correctly titled in post. We do our best to use less than 30 seconds for samples. Purchasing any sample beats, it is up to the artist/record label to clear samples. We also have plenty of beats that are sample free that you can choose from as well.

32. How do I give credit to the Producer?
In all projects where any part of a LaDonnaComer.com beat is used, be sure to give credit in one of the following formats:

“Produced by (Producer’s Full Name)”
“Beat by (Producer’s Full Name)”
“Original Music by (Producer’s Full Name)”

*Failure to give proper production credit is a violation of your lease and or exclusive rights term/contract.

Example of proper credit ( CREDIT AGREEMENT, section 7)

33. I’ve decided that I no longer wish to use the beat I have licensed. Do you offer a return or exchange policy?
Because our beats are electronically transferred and cannot be physically “returned”, all sales are final. Yes, each beat tape is a compilation of released and unreleased beats. There are two (2) versions FREE & PAID Beat mixtapes.

-FREE BEAT TAPES: NOT leases, they are tagged throughout and DO NOT provide you with any rights to the track in any way. The are demo downloads, which are offered to fans and potential customers alike to have the opportunity to be used to demo/audition the track for a future purchase. If you absolutely cannot listen to the track on my page, you are welcome to download the tagged instrumental for your listening purposes. This is NONPROFIT.

-PAID BEAT TAPES: Price range from $15- 25. which INCLUDES a STANDARD LEASE to EACH BEAT ON THE MIXTAPE. Please view Standard leasing terms before purchasing.

36. How long are the beats?

37. Will you produce for me for free? Can I have a beat for free to use on my album I’ll be selling?
If you sign up for a FREE ACCOUNT (coming soon), mailing list/newsletter and or enter in any of the contests/giveaways at LaDonnaComer.com you’ll have a chance to win FREE  LEASES, RADIO PLAY and MUSIC PRIZES to help your career. The more active you are on LaDonnaComer.com, connected with LaDonna Comer on ALL social network sites it increase your chances of winning FREE STUFF (standard/premium beat leases, mixtape slots, radio promo & more). If not sorry, we made our prices affordable for everyone (even struggling artists). If your serious about making money off your music and would like to establish a legitimate reputation in the music industry, then investing in a lease is the easiest and most cost efficient way to jump start your career.

38. Why should I license a beat if other people can license the same beat?
The reason why non-exclusive licensing/leasing works so well for struggling artist on a budget. You have a 5000 copy limit we impose basically discourages someone from distributing a song with the beat nationwide or worldwide. This limits it to a more local basis. ‘5000′ is a statistically estimated number that minimizes the chances of two songs clashing with the same beat. This creates fair play amongst all of our clients who lease a beat. We know that if a artist is truly ready to sell more than 5000 copies, they will purchase the exclusive rights. Additionally, we generally do not sell a beat to multiple clients in the same city. (exceptions to this rule may be extremely large and music-centralized cities).

39. I don’t have $25, So I’m Just Going To Steal The Beat.
There are people out there who steal beats from websites. Instead of paying the small leasing fee or buying exclusive rights, they’d rather steal a producer’s work. There is no benefit in doing this. All of our beats are encrypted with tags, scanned and LEGALLY PROTECTED and owned by us until exclusive rights are purchased. If you are making money or otherwise commercially benefiting from a beat without buying a license you are incriminating yourself and making yourself liable to copyright law suits. It is highly advisable to pay the small fee for a license if you want to start making money from your music!
